Rev Up The Fun – Birthday Card

Welcome back!  Having a play with an older stamp set: Rev Up The Fun (circa 2013) for a Masculine Birthday card.

A bunch of challenges inspired this card.  Make My Monday (#201) Masculine; Global Design Project (#395) Birthday; Retro Rubber (#207) Anything Goes; Color Dare (#548) for Pewter with one other color choice; Color Hues (#64) for a similar color palette; and bringing it all together the current layout from Sketch Saturday (#726).  Let’s have some fun.

Here is the result:

REV UP THE FUN – MMM201 – GDP395 – RRCB207 – CD548 – TCH64 – SS726

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic Black cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (5¼” x 4”) Basic Gray cardstock (for Pewter) and the Gray Hue dry-embossed with the Cross-Hatch Basics 3D Embossing Folder.
    • The greeting was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with Pewter Embossing Powder.
  • Left Side Shapes – Tire Tracks: Mango Melody cardstock scraps (for Sundance) and the Orange Hue.
    • The Tire Tracks were stamped with Basic Gray ink.
    • The Tire Tracks were die-cut with one of the Label dies from the retired Floral Gallery Dies set.
  • Focal Image – Motorcycle: Basic White cardstock scrap.
    • The Motorcycle was also stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with Pewter Embossing Powder.
    • The Motorcycle was colored with Stampin’ Write Markers.  Colors: Basic Gray (Seat and Wheels), Smoky Slate (Front Wheel Fork) and Mango Melody (Lightning Bolt).
    • The Motorcycle was then fussy cut with Paper Snips.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  The Motorcycle was popped up with Dimensionals.  Three Silver Brads were added to the bottom left corner for a hardware themed element.

  1. Wow, Jolanda, this is fabulous! Love all the heat-embossing, and the tire skids look great like that! So dramatic! What a cool set to still have around! Thanks so much for playing at Make My Monday AND Retro Rubber!

  2. Love the texture and the theme of this card. Always tricky to do a good masculine card but you nailed it! Thanks for sharing with us at Colour Dare, I hope you can join us again soon.
