Pretty Kitty – Tis the Season

Welcome back to the Inque Spot Studio! It’s Wednesday and I designed this card for class today…special request for a Christmas Cat.

Lots of inspiration for this one. Sketch: Tuesday Morning (#684) flipped to the horizontal, Themes: Make the Cards (#68) Winter and Alphabet (Letter P) Precious, Colors: Color Hues (#53) Scarlet & Green, Tools: Crafter’s Café (#291) Dies and Just Us Girls (#658) for a matching Envelope.

Here is the result: 

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic White cardstock.
• Background Panel: (5¼” x 4”) Basic White cardstock.
  • The sentiment, Tis the season to be Jolly, from the Ho, Ho, Ho stamp set (October 2022 Paper Pumpkin kit) was stamped with Shaded Spruce ink.
  • The Panel was then dry-embossed with the retired Snow Falling Embossing Folder.
• Cross Strip (5¼” x 2”) Shaded Spruce Dotted piece of patterned paper from the retired Wrapped in Plaid Specialty Designer Series Paper pack.
• Accent Scalloped Oval Mat: (3½” x 2½”) Real Red cardstock die-cut with one of the scalloped oval dies from the retired Layering Ovals Dies set.
• Focal Image Oval: (3¼” x 2⅜”) Basic White cardstock // Basic White Envelope.
  • One of the Pussy Cat images from the retired Pretty Kitty stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto the cardstock and the Envelope.
  • The same image was also stamped onto Masking Paper and then fussy cut with Paper Snips to be used as a Mask.
  • The Trees and Snow image from the retired Happy Scenes stamp set was stamped over the Masked Cat image.
  • The Mask was removed and the scene was colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors used were all Light: Smoky Slate, Petal Pink, Real Red, Shaded Spruce and Balmy Blue.
  • A scrap piece of cardstock was inserted into the Envelope to prevent bleed-through, and that Cat was colored at the same time.
  • The sentiment, Happy Holidays, from the retired Itty, Bitty Christmas stamp set was stamped on to the Envelope with Shaded Spruce ink.
  • The stamped and colored Scene was die-cut with one of the oval dies from the same die set.

All the elements were adhered to the card base and the Focal image oval was popped up with Dimensionals.

I rarely make a decorated envelope…but they make a pretty pair.  My client was really happy with this card and it was well received by all the guests.  That is such a cute and happy Pussy Cat.
