Charming Sentiments – Splendid Stems

Welcome back!  Having a nice play in the Studio…working on a few more challenges with quickly approaching deadlines and a little sneak peek from the upcoming Holiday Mini Catalog available in July.

Sketch: Atlantic Hearts (#477), Theme and Technique: Seize the Birthday (#240) and Color: Color Hues (#43).

Here is the result:

CHARMING SENTIMENTS – SPLENDID STEMS DIES – AHSC477 – STB240 – TCH43

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Starry Sky cardstock.
  • Card Front: (4” x 5¼”) Granny Apple Green cardstock.
    • The Leaf Stem die from the new Splendid Stems Dies set and the (3⅞”) Circle Die from the retired Stitched Shapes Dies set were positioned on the panel and die-cut together creating the Circle opening and the Stem outline.
    • The card front was dry-embossed with the retired Checks Embossing Folder for interest and texture.
    • The card front was adhered to the card base.
  • Inset: (3” x 3”) Starry Sky cardstock
    • Like above, the Leaf Stem Die from the Splendid Stems Dies set and the (2⅞”) Circle Die from the retired Stitched Shapes Dies set were positioned on the panel and die-cut together creating the Circle and Leaves insets for Paper Piecing.
    • The Starry Sky Circle was set into the Granny Apple Green Circle opening.
    • The reserved Granny Apple Green Stem outline was set into the Starry Sky Circle and then the Starry Sky Leaf pieces were set into the Granny Apple Green Leaf openings.
  • Sentiment Flag: (3⅜” x ¾”) Starry Sky cardstock scrap.
    • The sentiment, Wishing you the Happiest of Birthdays, from the Charming Sentiments stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.
    • The Label was flagged by hand with Paper Snips and adhered to the card front.

Two of my very favorite colors.  They look so great together.  How fresh and bold!

  4. Kelly green and navy are very striking color combinations and I love the texture on your card with the paper piecing. I am wondering what your favorite technique is? Embossing, paper piecing, or die-cutting? All of these techniques make for a great card. I am so glad that you linked up with us at Seize the Birthday Challenge.
