Wildflower Path – Happy Birthday

Cool and cloudy today – perfect weather to play in the Studio.

The challenges:

Here is the result:

WILDFLOWER PATH – SUMMER SHADOW DIES – TSOT549 – TCH38 – TFC67 – STB235

Steps: In order of how I started creating…

  • Strips/Stripes/Flags: (½”) off cuts from my Scrap Bin.
    • Pinks: Strawberry Slush, Pink Pirouette, Regal Rose
    • Greens: Pear Pizzazz, Soft Sea Foam and Mossy Meadow
    • Using a Basic White (not shown) scrap Strip (5½” x 2”) as an anchor, the eleven (11) strips were adhered side-by-side.
    • The Strips were hand notched with Paper Snips, creating the Flag points at varying lengths ranging from (3” to 3¾”).
  • Cross Strip: (5½” x 1⅛”) Basic White scrap die-cut with the stitched scallop edge die from the Penned Flowers Dies set.
    • The sentiment, Happy Birthday, from the Wildflower Path stamp set was stamped with Mossy Meadow ink to the right side.
  • Decoration – Flowers: Rose Red, Pink Pirouette, Wild Wasabi and Soft Sea Foam scraps die-cut with dies from the Summer Shadow Dies set.
    • The light-colored cardstock accents were adhered to the dark-colored bases to create both the Flower and the Leaves.
  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic White cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (5½” x 4⅛”) Basic White cardstock dry-embossed with the leafy Meadow Moments Embossing Folder.
  • Accents: Gold Foil scraps
    • Little Leafy Bits were die-cut with two of the small dies from the Flowers of Home Dies set.
    • The Flower base served as a template to trim out a “blob” that was adhered to the back of the Flower to shine through the Petals.
    • A thin Strip (5½” x ¼”) was also cut.

Putting it all together, the embossed Background Panel was adhered to the card base.  The Pink and Green Flag Panel was added.  The Gold Trim Strip was added to the back of the Scalloped Sentiment Cross Strip and then affixed in place a little higher than shown in the sketch. The Flower, Leaves and Gold Leafy Bits were added to the left side.

Oh, and we cannot forget the Heart.  A tiny Heart was punched out of a Strawberry Slush scrap with the retired Owl Builder Punch and added to the card.

I am pleased with how this Birthday card came together.  Love the variations of the pinks and greens and the pretty floral detail.

Thanks for spending some of your time with me today.   Cheers,  Jolanda!
