Flowers of Friendship – Miss You

Catching up on a few more challenges.  Deadlines are looming…

Sketch: Freshly Made Sketches (#486), Colors: Color Hues (#18), Style: Paper Craft Crew (#427) and Theme: The Card Concept (#155).

And this is the result:

FLOWERS OF FRIENDSHIP – FMS #486 – TCH #18 – TCC #155 – PCC #427

For the Color scheme I chose a piece of Hydrangea Hill Designer Series Paper for the Purple and colored a piece of Fluid 100 Water Color Paper with Evening Evergreen ink for the Teal.  I chose a series of posies (Forget-Me-Nots) to tie in the Garden Pleasures theme and kept the sketch Simple.

Steps:

  • I created the Teal water-colored panel (4” x 5¼”) by adding a spray mist of water to both sides of the paper to reduce curling.  I added Evening Evergreen ink to a bit of water and then dabbed the color with a the Wide-Tipped Water Painter over the entire panel.  When dry, I added both water and ink Splatters with my crafting Toothbrush.  I ultimately trimmed this panel to eliminate the dark edges of pooled ink (3¾” x 5¼”)
  • The Purple curved cut panel (1½” x 5¼”) Hydrangea Hill Designer Series Paper pattern was die-cut with the retired Adorning Accents Edgelits Die.
  • The Flowers were stamped with Highland Heather ink on a scrap strip of Shimmery White cardstock.  The centers were colored with the Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blend and then punched out with the coordinating Flowers & Leaves Punch.
  • I chose to die-cut the sentiment, Miss You, using the retired Well Written Dies from a scrap of Basic White cardstock.  The white color pops against the Teal panel.

All of the elements were adhered to match the sketch.  I chose a Basic White Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) to tie in my Flowers and my sentiment.

I think I created a #SimpleStamping card with minimum layers using two predominate colors with a white as the balancing neutral.  Forget-Me-Nots are a pleasure in any garden.

While this card uses stamps, paper and ink, the simple technique of water-coloring is introduced and by using a few tools, I am able showcase how the card can be stepped-up just a little.

Thanks for spending some of your time with me today.  Cheers,  Jolanda!
