Design Team Time for the Atlantic Hearts (#684) Sketch.

My design choices were influenced by Shopping Our Stash (#575) to use Kraft cardstock; Double Trouble (#217) for the same and creating a card suitable for a birthday; Make My Monday (#279) to add texture; Double D (#260603) for adding a Bow; and Moving Along With The Times (#190) to showcase a favorite stamp, tool, and / or die and I chose elements from the Fern & Flora Suite of products.

Here is the result:

Steps:
- Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Crumb Cake cardstock.
- Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Crumb Cake / Pecan Pie Wood patterned piece of paper from the Wood Grain Wonders Designer Series Paper pack, an On-Line Exclusive product.
- Triple Panels: (4” x 5¼”) Pecan Pie Two-Tone cardstock dry-embossed with the Fern & Flora 3D Embossing Folder.
- Using a Sanding Block, the embossed pattern was highlighted to bring out the white core.
- The Panel was then cut into three pieces. Sides (1⅛” x 5”) and Center (1¼” x 5”).
- Supporting Shape – Circle: (3” x 3”) Light Vanilla Toned Natural Hues Textured Specialty Paper, another On-Line Exclusive product, die-cut with the (2⅝”) Stitched Circle die from the Stylish Shapes Dies set.
- Decoration – Flower, Fern and Fiddlehead: Very Vanilla, Peaceful Pine and Golden Glow cardstock pieces.
- The Floral image from the Fern & Flora stamp set was stamped with Pecan Pie ink and colored with the Golden Glow and Peaceful Pine Stampin’ Blends Markers.
- Using the coordinating Floral die, the Fern die and the Fiddlehead die, all from the Fern & Flora Dies set, the decorative pieces were die-cut.
- Sentiment Label: Pecan Pie cardstock scrap.
- The sentiment, You’re an amazing friend, again from the Fern & Flora stamp set, was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder and then trimmed to (2⅜” x ¾”) diagonally cut on the right-side.
All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch. The Sentiment was popped up with Dimensionals and a Linen Thread Double Bow as added to complete the card.
A nice neutral toned birthday card celebrating a great friend…

I am looking forward to seeing how you use the Atlantic Hearts sketch this week.

I really love that color palette, such a “nature-y” feel, and the sanding really adds a lot of interest to that folder. Great card, thanks so much for joining us at Double Trouble!

I can’t take my eyes off the embossing folder part of the background…it’s so cool. I want to try that technique (the sanding and the cutting into strips). So creative! Thanks for sharing with us at Double Trouble.
