Today I have the pleasure of being a guest designer for Heart’s Quest Celebration of Love. This challenge celebrates Birthdays, Engagements, Weddings, Anniversaries and Sympathy…all matters of the heart.
The June (#2605) challenge included a masculine theme, and I chose to create a birthday card for a fellow.
Additional influences for my choices were: Ellibelle’s I Spy (#37) for a Monochromatic color treatment and the Pick 3 (#2605) elements – Blue, Plaid, and Birthday.
I am also sharing with Inkspirational (#368) with a For the Guys theme. My layout was inspired by a sketch posted by Paper Craft Crew a few weeks ago that I did not have time to do by the challenge deadline, but it suited my purposes.
Here is the result:
Steps:
- Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Misty Moonlight cardstock.
- Accent Mat: (4” x 3¾”) Cloud Cover cardstock.
- The Sentiment Accent Mats for Best and Wishes were die-cut with the dies from the Words & Wishes Dies set from the center of the cardstock piece.
- The Mat was then dry-embossed with the retired Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder.
- Cross Panel: (5½” x 3”) Misty Moonlight Flannel Plaid patterned piece of paper from the retired Timeless Plaid Designer Series Paper pack.
- Sentiment Die Cuts: (5½” x 2½”) Misty Moonlight cardstock.
- Using the Word dies, Best and Wishes, the greeting elements were created and adhered to the Cloud Cover Accent Mats.
All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch. Several retired Boho Blue 2023/2025 in-Color Dots were added to complete the card.
A super-duper birthday card for a guy. Don’t you just love flannel?
