Circle Sayings – Birthday Shaker Card

Welcome back!  Can you believe it is almost May?  I had a busy business day yesterday and will be catching up on some end of month challenges.

First up – the Cookie Challenge (#191) with a Birthday theme.  The inspiration photo Sprinkles kept niggling at me so, I decided to push through and create a shaker card…not something I normally do.

I selected the Just Add Ink (#699) Colors and the Tuesday Morning (#755) Sketch to bring my idea together.

Here is the result:

CIRCLE SAYINGS – CC191 – JAI699 – TMS755

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 4¼” scored at 4¼”) Coastal Cabana cardstock.
  • Accent Mat: (3⅜” x 4¾”) Brushed Silver cardstock (retired but still in my stash).
  • Center Shape – Shaker Element: (3” x 4⅜”) Basic White cardstock; (3” x 4⅜”) Swirly Ribbon Gold Celebrations Specialty Designer Series Paper (Window Acetate – Silver Side); (4” x 5¼”) Coastal Cabana, Starry Sky and Berry Burst cardstock.
    • The Basic White cardstock piece and the Acetate piece were slipped into the Clear Envelope.
    • Using the Dot & Spots Die, the colored Sprinkles were die-cut and then added in between the white backing and the Silver Swirl Acetate.
    • The Envelope was trimmed and sealed to the back with Scotch Tape, trapping the Sprinkles to create the Shaker Element.
  • Left and Right Shapes – Circles: Starry Sky, Coastal Cabana and Berry Burst cardstock scraps.
    • The sentiment, Happy Birthday and the Cupcake image from the Circle Sayings stamp set were stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.
    • The Sentiment and an additional circle were die-cut with the (1⅞”) Dotted Circle die from the Everyday Details Dies set.
    • The two Cupcake images were fussy-cut with Paper Snips and adhered together.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch and the Sprinkle Element and the Circles were popped up with Dimensionals.

This is a fun little birthday card in bright happy colors.

  3. Fun colors and a great non gender specific birthday card as for me I would use it for a guy because I think those are the most difficult! Thank you for creating with us this week at Tuesday Morning Sketches – Patti R.
