Golden Holly – Christmas Card

Welcome back!  Another work week.  Hope you have a great one.

Time for the Holiday card challenges.  Jingle Belles (Peace on Earth) and Happy Little Stampers (April).  Bringing it all together, the sketch over at Paper Craft Crew (#513).

With found materials and repurposed items from both my Holiday Bin and my Scrap Bin, here is the result:

REASON FOR THE SEASON – EMBELLISHED ORNAMENTS – FAUX SILK TECHNIQUE – JB Peace on Earth Day – HLS Christmas April 2023 – PCC513

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Very Vanilla cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Very Vanilla cardstock and recycled Gold Tissue Paper for the Faux Silk Technique.
    • The Gold Tissue paper was cut larger than the cardstock and crumbled into a ball and slightly unfurled.
    • The cardstock was covered with Tombo Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Broad-Tip).
    • The unfurled tissue paper was slightly smoothed out as it was adhered to the cardstock.
    • The excess edges can be trimmed with scissors, but I prefer to wrap the edges to the back of the cardstock.
  • Cross Strips – Top and Bottom: (4½” x 1½”) Golden Holly Holiday Wrapping Paper.
    • The Holly Strips were fussy-cut with Paper Snips.
    • The cut strips were trimmed and adhered to the Faux Silk panel.
  • Cross Strip – Center: (4” x 1”) Very Vanilla cardstock scrap.
    • The Holly image from the retired Embellished Ornaments stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink twice and heat-set with Gold Embossing Powder.
  • Sentiment Circle: (2¼”) Very Vanilla cardstock scrap.
    • The sentiment, A very Merry Christmas to you, from the retired Reason for the Season stamp set was also stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with Gold Embossing Powder.
    • The sentiment was punched out with the retired (2¼”) Circle Punch.

The Center Strip and the Sentiment Circle were adhered in place. The completed Faux Silk panel was then added to the card base.  For a little Holiday bling, Champagne Rhinestone Basic Jewels were added to the stamped Holly Berries and the Sentiment Circle.

Another Holiday card for the 2023 season.  It is fun to take a look at what you have squirreled away with the plans to repurpose and actually doing it!
