Beautiful Hollyhocks – Birthday Wishes

Afternoon delight…more time in the Studio…

A few CAS (clean and simple) challenges are on the board today.  Addicted to CAS (#235) Code Word: Garden and CAS on Friday (#254) Dots.

I decided to make a birthday card for Happy Little Stampers (April) and chose three colors from the Lucky Seven board over at Color Dare (#542) using the sketch from Paper Craft Crew (#512) which I flipped to the vertical position.

Here is the result:

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Soft Sea Foam cardstock.
• Card Front: (4¼” x 5½”) Basic White cardstock die-cut with the Dots & Spots Die.
• Diagonal Overlay: (2” x 7”) Basic White cardstock trimmed to fit.
• Oval Accent Mat: (2⅝” x 3½”) Almost Amethyst retired cardstock from my Scrap Bin die-cut with the same-sized Oval die from the retired Layering Oval Dies set.
• Background Oval: (2⅜” x 3¼”) Basic White cardstock scrap die-cut with same-sized Oval die, also from the Layering Ovals Dies set.
• Focal Image – Hollyhocks: Basic White cardstock scrap.  Beautifully Happy stamp set.
  • The Floral Outline image was stamped with Smoky Slate ink.
  • The coordinating Flower In-fill image was stamped with Blushing Bride ink (for Peach).
  • The coordinating Foliage In-Fill image was stamped with Soft Sea Foam ink (for Seabrook).
  • The Pod In-Fill image was stamped with retired Purple Posy (for Periwinkle) and Soft Sea Foam inks.
  • Additional shading was added to the Leaves and the Flowers with the Light Soft Sea Foam and retired Light Pink Pirouette Stampin’ Blends Markers.
  • The Hollyhocks were fussy-cut with Paper Snips.
• Sentiment Label: (2” x ½”) Basic White cardstock scrap.
  • The sentiment, Birthday Wishes, from the Sending Smiles stamp set was stamped with Smoky Slate ink.

The elements were assembled and adhered to the card base.  The Flowers and Sentiment Label were popped up with Dimensionals.

A very soft and pretty birthday card.
