Tropical Leaf – Love You

To CASE (Copy and Selectively Edit) is to take inspiration from and make it your own.  The team at the Global Design Project (#388) asked us to recreate a card made by Ann Alexander.  I opted to use the colors suggested by Creative Colour (#83) which are similar in overall impression to Ann’s color choices.

Here is the result:

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Evening Evergreen cardstock.
• Background Panel: (4⅛” x 5⅜”) Basic White cardstock.
  • Stamping off (2^nd Generation stamping) with Highland Heather and Soft Succulent inks, the Watercolor Swirl image from the Artistically Inked stamp set was stamped to create the background.
  • The sentiment, love you lots, from the On-Line Exclusive Tropical Leaf stamp set was added to the mid-point with Evening Evergreen ink.
• Sentiment Label: Basic White cardstock scrap hand trimmed.
  • The sentiment, XOXO, from the same stamp set was stamped with Highland Heather ink.
  • Color was added to the edges of the label with Soft Succulent ink using a Sponge Dauber.
• Decoration – Tropical Leaves and Hibiscus Flowers: Basic White cardstock.
  • Two Large Leaves and three Small Leaves from the same stamp set were stamped with Soft Succulent ink. 
  • The Vein detail was added with the coordinating stamps using Evening Evergreen ink.
  • The Large Leaves were punched out using the On-Line Exclusive coordinating Tropical Leaf Punch.
  • The Small Leaves were fussy-cut with Paper Snips.
  • The Hibiscus Flower image from the retired Tropical Chic stamp set was stamped three times with Highland Heather ink.
  • Shading detail was added to the Hibiscus Flowers with the Light Highland Heather Stampin’ Blends Marker.
  • The Hibiscus Flowers were also fussy-cut. 

All elements were added to the card base to resemble the layout of Ann’s card.  The Hibiscus Flowers, one Leaf and the Sentiment Label were popped up with Dimensionals.

Love the inspiration.  It was fun to CASE this card.
