Serene Bird – Happy Birthday

Welcome back!  It is a dark rainy day and I wanted to brighten my day…so…

The challenge I am playing with is: Festive Friday (#131) and I chose a number of items from the list.  I wanted to add a Bird, but I don’t have many birds in my stamp collection.  On a hunt, I came across Serene Garden and thought it would do nicely.

To support the choices, I selected the colors suggested by Facebook Group Colour INKspiration (#140); the chose one of the cards on page 22 of the Mini Catalog to CASE (Copy and Selectively Edit) as suggested by Stampin’ Up! Only (#323).  I am also sharing this card with the Facebook Group Joy of Sets (April) because it fits with the monthly theme.

Here is the result:

SERENE GARDEN – HAPPINESS ABOUNDS – FF0131 – CI140 – SUOC323 – JOS April 2023

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Early Espresso cardstock.
  • Accent Panel: (4⅛” x 5⅜”) Early Espresso cardstock dry-embossed with the retired Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Large Circle: (3”) Acetate Window Sheet and Basic White cardstock for the Floating Strip Technique.
    • The Corner Floral image from the retired Serene Garden stamp set was stamped twice in opposite corners of a (4”’ x 4”) piece of cardstock using Early Espresso ink.
    • The Floral image was colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors used: Light and Dark Soft Sea Foam, Light and Dark Petal Pink and Dark So Saffron.
    • The Floral image was cut into (⅜”) strips.
    • Using Tear & Tape Adhesive, the strips were affixed to a (4” x 4”) Window Sheet.
    • Using the (3”) Stitched Circle die from the Stylish Shapes Dies set, the Floral image was die-cut.
  • Small Circle: (1¾”) Petal Pink cardstock die-cut with that sized Stitched Circle die, also from the Stylish Shapes Dies set.
  • Sentiment Label: (2½” x ¾”) Basic White cardstock scrap colored with the Dark Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Blend Marker.
    • The sentiment, Happy Birthday, from the Happiness Abounds stamp set was stamped with Early Espresso ink.
  • Decoration: Basic White cardstock scraps
    • The Bird image and the Leafed Floral image, also from the Serene Garden stamp set were stamped with Early Espresso ink.
    • The Bird was colored with both Light and Dark So Saffron Stampin’ Blends Marker and fussy-cut with Paper Snips.
    • Similarly, the Leafed Floral image was colored with the Light and Dark Petal Pink and Dark Soft Sea Foam Stampin’ Blends Markers and fussy-cut.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the base sketch.  Mini Dimensionals were affixed behind the strips of the larger circle so it appear to float and all the other pieces were also popped up.

I really like how the softly colored images contrast with the dark background for a very pretty birthday card.
