Graceful Tiles – Because of You

The Design Team Challenge for Hand Stamped Sentiments (#411) is an inspiration Mood Board.  There are a lot of take aways and I am taken with the image of the Umbrellas.

Additional inspiration comes from Just Add Ink (646):  The Cookies led to the colors chosen – Pink, Yellow and Orange as well as the layout/sketch I used.

Umbrellas and Cookies have a round shape, so I was also influenced by the Tic Tac Toe (#202) Board options: Circle(s), FREE and Die Cut(s).

I selected one of the Tile images from the Graceful Tiles stamp set because it looks a little like the top view of an open decorated Umbrella as well as a decorated / iced Easter Cookie.  Here is the result:

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Blushing Bride cardstock.
• Accent Panel: (5¼” x 4”) Flirty Flamingo cardstock.
• Background Panel: (5⅛” x 3⅞”) Basic White cardstock.
• Circles – Umbrellas or Cookies: Blushing Bride (Pink), Daffodil Delight (Yellow) and Flirty Flamingo (Orange) cardstock scraps.
  • The selected Tile image was stamped 12 times, 4 times on each color with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
  • Light Calypso Coral, Light Mango Melody and Dark Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends Markers were used to highlight the pattern in the Tile.
  • Each Tile was die-cut with the (1⅛”) Scalloped Circle die from the Layering Circle Dies set.
• Sentiment Label: Basic White cardstock scrap.
  • The sentiment, My heart is smiling because of you, from the Wildflower Path stamp set was also stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
  • The sentiment was die-cut with the Long Ticket Corner die from the retired Merry Christmas Thinlits Dies set.
  • The label was edged with Daffodil Delight ink using a Sponge Dauber.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble a Cookie Sheet pattern.  Twelve Rhinestone Basic Jewels were colored with the Dark Basic Black Stampin’ Blends Marker and added to the center of each circle.  The sentiment was popped up with Dimensionals.

There is something striking about a repetitive pattern.  Stylistically Simple but effective.  I am very fond of the Graceful Tile stamp set and it is great for this application.
