Spring Rain – Spring Clean

True to the quote from Time Out (#234), today “the sun shines hot, and the wind blows cold” and those winds are blowing in more rain…

My inspiration for “Spring Rain”: Try Stampin’ On Tuesday’s (#598) for the sketch and optional theme with the cool color palette suggested by Color Hues (#60).

My choice of materials used for the “Spring Clean”: Stampin’ Up! Only (#322) and Use Your Stuff (#479) to take a look at the “bits and bobs” that remain from previously created projects.

Let’s play! Here is the result:

PLAYING IN THE RAIN – RAIN OR SHINE DSP – TOC234 – TSOT598 – TCH60 – SUOC322 – UYS479

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Bermuda Bay cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Coastal Cabana cardstock and scrap strips of patterned paper from the Sale-a-bration Dandy Designs Designer Series Paper pack.
    • An assortment of Balmy Blue and Coastal Cabana patterned strips were adhered diagonally to the panel.
  • Polaroid Frame: (3” x 3½”) Coastal Cabana cardstock scrap.
    • The Polaroid Frame was die-cut using the (3” x 4⅜”) Stitched Rectangle die shortened to (3½”) from the Stitched Rectangles Dies set and the (2⅛” x 2⅛”) Stitched Square die from the retired Stitched Shapes Dies set.
    • The sentiment, Rainy days are better with you, from the Playing in the Rain stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with retired Pewter Embossing Powder.
  • Frame Inset: (3” x 3”) Raindrop patterned piece of paper from the Rain or Shine Specialty Designer Series Paper pack.
  • Focal Image – Pooch wearing Rain Slicker: Animal patterned piece of paper also from the Rain or Shine Specialty Designer Series Paper pack.
    • The Pooch with Pink Umbrella was fussy-cut with Paper Snips.
    • The “pink” umbrella was colored over with the Dark Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blend Marker making it more of a “gray” color.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  A few blue-toned Iridescent Pastel Gems were added above the Polaroid Frame and the Pooch was popped up with Dimensionals.

Loving the mix of patterns from the strips of patterned paper.  Always fun to raid the stash bins…
