Fragrant Jasmine – Spring Flowers

Welcome back!  Wow!  Tuesday again and time for the Case-ing the Catalog Tuesday selection (#395) suggestion.

I was inspired by the following challenges: As You See It (#292) for a Favorite Spring Thing; Seize the Birthday (#255) for an item that relates to my Initials; Colors – Facebook Colour INKspiration (#137); and Creative Creases (#50) for a Fun Fold type card.

Here is the result:

FOREVER BLOOMS – WINDS OF CHANGE – AYSI292 – STB255 – C!137 – CCC50

Steps:

  • Case Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Orchid Oasis cardstock.
    • The card front was dry-embossed with the Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Fancy Fold: (6” x 4¼” scored at 3”) Basic White cardstock.
    • Cover Panel: (3” x 4¼’) Fancy Flora Designer Series Paper in a Pink, Blue and Purple pattern.
  • Ribbon Element: (11”) Evening Evergreen Weave Ribbon.
  • Shape – Circle: Shimmery White cardstock water-colored with the Wide-Tipped Water Painter Brush and Balmy Blue ink.
    • The water-colored cardstock was die-cut with the (3”) Stitched Circle die from the Stylish Shapes Dies set.
    • The truncated sentiment, flowers in the spring, from the retired Winds of Change stamp set was stamped by adding the Evening Evergreen Stampin’ Write Marker color to the words and using the retired Stamp-a-ma-jig Positioning Tool.
  • Focal Image – Jasmine Flowers: Shimmery White cardstock.
    • The Floral image, from the retired Forever Blooms stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
    • The Flowers and Leaves were water colored with Polished Pink and Evening Evergreen inks using the Fine-Tipped Water Painter Brush.
    • The Flowers were fussy-cut and separated with Paper Snips.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch which was flipped to the horizontal position.  The Circle element and some of the Flowers were popped up with Dimensionals.  A single Flower, also popped up, was added to the edge of the mini card as a closure for the Fancy Fold element.

What a pretty birthday card…Jasmine is one of my favorite flowers…they smell so lovely!

  3. Love the simple fancy fold idea Jolanda and the beautiful soft watercolouring of your Jasmine. Great layering too – the fussy cutting of those blooms is totally worth it. Thanks for playing along with our Spring challenge over at As You See It this week!
