Let’s Set Sail – Adventure Awaits

Welcome back!  Hope you are enjoying your Sunday…

Taking a break from pink…how about some blue?  That is the line-up at Color Dare (#535) and I paired it with the current Alphabet Challenge (Letter W) for Water.  Bringing the two together, I chose the sketch from Freshly Made (#572).

Here is the result:

LET’S SET SAIL BUNDLE – CD535 – FMS572 – ALPHABET Letter W

Steps:

  • Case Base: (11” x 4¼” scored at 5½”) Basic White cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (4¼” x 5½”) Basic White cardstock dry-embossed with the retired Bark 3D Embossing Folder.  I love how the texture looks like water.
  • Cross Strip: (4¼” x 2½”) Blue Water Wave patterned piece of paper from the retired Waves of the Ocean Designer Series Paper pack with includes a number of blue colors including pale Coastal Cabana (for Glacier)
  • Shapes – Circles: Vellum die-cut with the (2½”) Stitched Circle die from the Stylish Shapes Dies set.  I chose Vellum so that you could see the Water Waves through it.
  • Focal Image – Sailboat: Basic White cardstock scrap.
    • The Boat and Mast image was stamped with Starry Sky ink (for Sapphire).
    • The Sail images were stamped with retired Seaside Spray ink (for Periwinkle).
    • The Sailboat pieces were punched out with the coordinating Sailboat Builder Punch.
      • Tip: I created an Acetate Window Sheet Template of the Punch.  I placed the template on the cardstock and stamped the pieces into the open spaces.  Therefore, I only had to use the punch once to get all three pieces.
  • Sentiment Label: (1¾” x ⅞”) Basic White cardstock scrap.
    • The sentiment, Adventure Awaits, from the same stamp set, Let’s Set Sail was stamped with Starry Sky ink.
    • The Label was cut on the diagonal with Paper Snips and the edges were sponged with Seaside Spray ink using a Sponge Dauber.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  Mini Glue Dots were used to secure the Vellum, the Boat and Mast as well as the Sentiment. Mini Dimensionals were used to pop up the Sails.
