Perched in a Tree – Merry & Bright

Happy Tuesday!  Time again, for the Design Challenges: Cardz 4 Guyz (#310) and Hand Stamped Sentiments (#403).

I decided to combine them with the sketch from Paper Players (#619) and another combination of the colors from the Color Dare (#523) Tic Tac Toe board.

Here is the result:

PERCHED IN A TREE – SWEET CANDY CANES – C4G310 – HSSIC403 – PP619 – CD523

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Crumb Cake cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (5⅜” x 4⅛”) Crumb Cake cardstock.
    • The sentiment, Merry & Bright, from the Sweet Candy Canes stamp set was stamped with Real Red ink.
    • The panel was then dry-embossed with the Timber 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Accent Mat: (4⅛” x 2⅝”) Real Red cardstock.
  • Under Rectangle: (4” x 2½”) Very Vanilla cardstock.
  • Overlay Rectangle: (4” x 2½”) Pine Tree Branch patterned piece of Vellum from the retired Winter Wonderland Specialty Vellum Paper pack.
  • Focal Image – Birds: Shimmery White cardstock.
    • The Bird image from the Perched in a Tree stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto the Silicone Craft Sheet.
    • The Shimmery White cardstock was pressed onto the image transferring the “mirror” reflection of the Bird.
    • The Bird image was also then stamped onto the Shimmery White cardstock, without re-inking the stamp, for a 2nd Generation (stamped off) image.
    • Once the inked images were good and dry, the Birds were water colored with Real Red and Crumb Cake inks using the Water Painter Brush.
    • Additional highlights/shadows were added with the Light Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blend Marker.
    • When completely dry, the Birds were fussy cut with Paper Snips.

All elements were adhered to the card front to match the sketch.  The Birds were popped-up with Dimensionals.
