Love & Warmth & Hot Cocoa

Welcome back to the Inque Spot Studio!

I have been invited to be a Guest Designer this week with the folks responsible for the great Tic Tac Toe Challenges.  A particular favorite of mine.  Eight terrific opportunities to inspire your creativity.  I selected the Center Column: Red, Sparkle and Holly for TTTC186.

Additional choices for this card were inspired by Festive Friday (#121) and Color Dare (#520).

Here is the result:

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic White cardstock.
    • The sentiment, Love & Warmth, from the Ringed with Nature stamp set was stamped in the top right corner of the card front with Poppy Parade ink (for Candy Apple)
  • Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Smoky Slate (for Mink) Dotted patterned piece of paper from the 2022/2023 Neutrals Collection Designer Series Paper pack.
    • The top right corner was folded back exposing the Plaid pattern
  • Cross Strip: (4” x ¾”) White Glimmer Paper.
    • Using a Sponge Dauber, the Glimmer Paper was colored with Poppy Parade ink.
      • Note:  Adding ink with a Sponge Dauber does not work as well as dying the paper with a watercolor wash or coloring with a Stampin’ Blend Marker.  Some smudging did occur.  I sprayed the Glimmer Paper with Hairspray to fix the color.
  • Circle: (3”) White Glimmer Paper die-cut with the (3”) stitched circle die from the Stylish Shapes Dies set.
  • Focal Image – Hot Cocoa Cups: Basic White cardstock.
    • The Paper Cups and Lids from the retired Merry Café stamp set were stamped with Basic Gray ink.
    • The Paper Cups were decorated with the Holly Branch image from the retired Bells & Boughs stamp set, also stamped with Basic Gray ink.
    • The Holiday Cups were colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers: Holly Leaves (Back Cup) – Light Evening Evergreen and (Forward Cup) – Dark Just Jade (both colors for Harbour); Holly Berries – Light Poppy Parade; Cups and Lids – Light Smoky Slate.
    • The Cups and Lids were fussy cut with Paper Snips.
    • For added sparkle, Wink of Stella Glitter was applied to the Holly Berries.

All the elements were adhered to the card base.  The top Hot Cocoa Cup was popped up with Dimensionals.

All Love and Warmth tucked up under a cozy Blanket sipping Holly-day Hot Cocoa…always better on a Pajama Day!

  2. This is a wonderful card putting together all of the challenges, and a great way to highlight some double sided paper. Thanks for playing along with us at Festive Friday!

  3. I love how you combine multiple challenges…work smarter, not harder! Love that grey is the dominate color with red & green being accents. Thanks for sharing at Color Dare.

  4. Love how you made the coffee cups festive and the way you coloured the cups is fabulous. Makes me want some hot cocoa already (and I live in the southern hemisphere so its hot here at Christmas time). Thanks for sharing with us at Colour Dare, I hope you can join us again soon.
