You Are Always Loved – Christmas Scottie

Happy Tuesday and welcome to the Facebook Case-ing the Catalog challenge (#369).

The card sample is essentially a color block.  For my colors, I went to a Random Color Generator Site and set the selector to four colors.  The colors that popped up were similar to Sahara Sand, Soft Suede/Early Espresso, Garden Green and Merry Merlot.  So, that was what I went with.

I chose to add a stenciled decoration to the left side panel for Just Us Girls (#645) and truncated the fold (trimmed the card base) for interest for Creative Creases (#38).

Here is the result: 

Steps:

• Card Base: (8” x 4¼” scored at 2½”) Sahara Sand cardstock.
  • Using the Open Fret Square patterned die from the Split Card Texture Dies set as a Stencil, Merry Merlot and Garden Green inks were added with Sponge Daubers to create the two-colored grid pattern on the short card front flap.
  • The sentiment, You Are Always Loved, from the Christmas Scottie stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.
• Color Block Strips: (¾” x 4¼”) Early Espresso, Merry Merlot, Garden and Sahara Sand cardstock scraps.
  • The Strips were adhered to the to the right inside of the card base.
  • The Splatter image from the Quiet Meadow stamp set was added three times with Versamark ink and also heat-set with White Embossing Powder.
• Shapes – Focal image – Scottie Dogs: Sahara Sand cardstock scraps.
  • Two of the Dog images from the Christmas Scottie stamp set were stamped. One with Soft Suede ink and the other with Sahara Sand ink.
  • A collar Bow was added to each Dog.  One Garden Green and the other Merry Merlot.
  • Outline and Eye details were drawn on to the Dogs with the Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker.
  • The Dogs were then fussy cut with Paper Snips and added to the card with Dimensionals.

This is a nice gender-neutral appreciation/love card.  Perfect for a Dog person yet ideal for anyone at any age.
