Beach Camping – You’ve Got Style

Welcome to the middle of the week.  Are you ready for a vacation?  How about camping at the beach?

A few challenges inspired today’s card.  Inkspirational (#270) and Color Dare (#506) along with the colors over at Inspire Create (#121).  Bringing my idea together, Sketch Saturday (#705).

The VW Camper translated into the new Caravan Camper available in the free Sale-a-bration option Tree Lot Dies (with a qualifying purchase).  What a fun image!  To complete the scene, I selected images from a number of retired stamp sets.

Here is the result: 

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Bermuda Bay cardstock.
• Background Panel: (5¼” x 4”) Basic White cardstock.
  • The Tropical Palm Tree image from the retired Totally Trees stamp set was stamped in the upper left corner with Bermuda Bay ink.
  • Using a Blending Brush and Pale Papaya Ink, the top (4”) of the panel was colored for a suggestion of sunset sky and sandy beach.
  • The sentiment, You’ve Got Style, from the retired Driving By stamp set was added with Poppy Parade ink.   
• Bottom Curved Panel: (4” x 3½”) Pool Party cardstock.
  • The curved edge was die-cut using the one of the dies from the retired Curvy Dies set.
  • The panel was then stamped with the retired Gentle Waves stamp using Bermuda Bay ink to create the ocean water.
• Circle Shape – Caravan: Pool Party, Poppy Parade, Basic Gray, Vellum and Basic White cardstock scraps and the dies from the Tree Lot Dies set.
  • Caravan Base: die-cut from Pool Party cardstock.
  • Caravan Accents: Top, Runner and Curtain from Poppy Parade cardstock.
  • Under Carriage: Caravan base re-cut with Basic Gray cardstock and trimmed with Paper Snips.
  • Door: Caravan base re-cut with Basic White cardstock and trimmed.
  • The Caravan was built.
  • Windows: a strip of Vellum was added in behind.

The Background Panel was adhered to the card base, the Curved Panel was added and the Caravan was positioned to complete the scene.

 A fun summer card!
