Friends Are Like Seashells – Artistically Inked

Welcome back!  Today, I am really mixing it up!

Theme and Color: The Four Seasons (June) – Pink Flowers; Technique: Double Trouble (#114) – Background and Partnership; Sketch: Atlantic Hearts (#478) and Partnership; Theme and Materials: Tic Tac Toe (#167) – Flowers, Friends and Twine; Theme: Just Add Ink (#609) – Flowers; and Color Technique: TGIF (#374) – Tone on Tone with Polished Pink and Sweet Sorbet.

Here is the result:

ARTISTICALLY INKED – A FISH & A WISH – FRIENDS ARE LIKE SEASHELLS – TFSC June – DT114 – AHSC478 – TTTC167 – JAI609 – TGIFC374

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic White cardstock.
  • Stamped Background: (4” x 5¼”) Polished Pink cardstock.
    • Using Polished Pink ink, the Rose image from the Artistically Inked stamp set and the Wave image from the A Fish & A Wish stamp set, the stamped background design was created.
    • The Roses were stamped first and then Masked.  The Waves were added over the masks so that they appeared behind the Roses.
    • The Panel was cut into three: Center (1½” x 5¼”) and Sides (1¼” x 5¼”).
  • Center Panel Accent: (1¾” x 5¼”) Basic White cardstock.
    • The Polished Pink Center Cut Panel was adhered to the Basic White Accent Strip and then the Three Panels were adhered together.
  • Horizontal Cross Strip: retired Whisper White Flax Ribbon wrapped around the Panel and secured with Scotch Tape.
  • Baker’s Twine Accent:  A length of White Baker’s Twine was colored with the Dark Sweet Sorbet Stampin’ Blend and tied into a bow.  The ends of the Bow were also wrapped around the Panel on top of the Flax Ribbon.
  • Square Panel Accent: (2” x 2”) Sweet Sorbet cardstock scrap.
  • Square Panel: (1¾” x 1¾”) Basic White cardstock scrap
    • The truncated sentiment, Friends, from the Friends Are Like Seashells stamp set was inked with the Sweet Sorbet Stampin’ Write Marker.
  • Focal Image – Flower and Leaves: Basic White cardstock scraps.
    • The same Rose image was stamped with Polished Pink ink and the Floral Center image from the same stamp set was added with Sweet Sorbet ink.  The Leaf image, also from the same stamp set, was stamped with Sweet Sorbet ink.
    • The Rose and the Leaves were fussy cut with Paper Snips.

Putting it together:  The Rose and Leaves were adhered to the Square Panel with the Rose popped up with Dimensionals.  The Square Panel was also popped up over the Ribbon and Twine as was the completed card front on to the card base.  A few Basic Pearls were added for a bit of bling.

Tone on tone is a pretty way to showcase a color – in this case pink and an excellent way to create background papers.  Summer pink Florals are in almost every garden.  They are in mine.  Are they in yours?  Like-minded people are destined to be friends…

  4. This is a delightful card, Jolanda. I think that’s the most times around a card I’ve seen twine and it looks fabulous! Might pinch that idea for myself one day 🙂 Thanks so much for entering this week’s challenge at Just Add Ink!
