Merriest Moments – Joy

On to the next Holidays…Thanksgiving followed by Christmas!

This afternoon, I decided to tackle Stampin’ Up! October Simple Stamping Challenge (Stamps, Ink, and Paper) Theme: Christmas or New Year’s and (yeah!) we were allowed to add embellishments.

I selected the current layout from Tuesday Morning Sketches (#629) because it was perfect for showcasing a stamp set or two and had lots of layers for adding interesting paper and the sentiment was Inspired By (#193C) challenge.

Here is the result:

MERRIEST MOMENTS – FESTIVE FOLIAGE – JOYEOUS NOEL GLIMMER PAPER – TMS629 – IB193C – #SIMPLESTAMPING – SU OCTOBER SIMPLE STAMPING CHALLENGE

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Shaded Spruce cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (3⅝” x 4⅞”) Very Vanilla cardstock.  Using the Stamparatus Positioning Tool, the panel was decorated with the Festive Foliage background stamp.  Crumb Cake ink was added to the stamp with a Brayer.  The sentiment, Joy, from the Merriest Moments stamp set was stamped with Cherry Cobbler ink centered at the top of the panel.
  • Rectangle Panels and Cross Strip: (2½” x 3”) Gold, (2” x 2½”) Red, (4¼” x 1”) Green.  All Holiday cards deserve a little sparkle.  I still have the Joyous Noel Glimmer Paper in my stash and chose to use all three colors on this card.
  • Focal Image – Poinsettia & Holly: (2” x 2”) Very Vanilla cardstock.  The two Poinsettia stamps and two of the Holly stamps from the Merriest Moments stamp set were stamped with Cherry Cobbler and Shade Spruce ink, respectively.  The Flowers and Leaves were fussy cut with Paper Snips and adhered together.

All of the elements were arranged and adhered to the match the sketch.  The Flower was popped up with Dimensionals.  My embellishment?  I added five (golden colored) Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the center of the Poinsettia Flower.
