Hey there, hello! I am sharing a card I created this afternoon for the Sunday Sketch Challenge (#268) inspired by the photo image selected by the team for the current Just Us Girls Challenge (#607).
My take-aways from the photograph: Colors, Pennant and Stars.
Here is the result:

Steps:
- Pennant Background Panel: (2⅝” x 3⅞”) Basic White cardstock. The original rectangle was die-cut with one of the Stitched Rectangle Dies. The Pennant shape was created by die-cutting the bottom of the rectangle with the pointed Basic Borders Die. The Pennant was dry-embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder.
- Shapes – Stars: (1”) and (½”) Calypso Coral / Smoky Slate / Basic Black cardstock scraps. The (1”) Stars were die-cut with the retired Stars Dies (Current similar product item code: 150653 Stitched Stars) and the (½”) Star was punched out using a retired small Star Punch. The Stars were dry-embossed by placing them in the Dandelion Puff of the Dandelions 3D Embossing Folder.
- Sentiment Label: (2⅜” x ½”) Basic Black cardstock scrap. The sentiment, Happy Birthday, from the Blossoms in Bloom stamp set was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder. The sentiment was then die-cut with the smaller Stitched Rectangle Die.
- Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Smoky Slate cardstock.
All of the elements were arranged to match the sketch keeping the Birthday card clean and simple. The neutral color scheme works well for either gender and the Stars are a fun shape suitable for a child’s card.
Thanks for spending some of your time with me today. Cheers, Jolanda!
