Let’s Celebrate – Just Because

Each month, Stampin’ Up! issues a #SimpleStamping Challenge.  For the month of June, the theme was “Just Because” and we were encouraged to use a punch in addition to Stamp, Paper and Ink.

Keeping this challenge in mind, I mixed it up with the current sketch challenge from CAS Colours & Sketches (#425).  For my theme, I took inspiration from The Card Concept (#158) photograph and tied it into this week’s Tic Tac Toe (#119) technique, color and theme challenge.

Here is the result:

Steps:

• Three Shapes: (1⅜” x2”) 100 Fluid Watercolor Paper punched using the Rectangular Postage Stamp Punch.  The Star Fish, Sand Dollar and Coral images from the Stampin’ Up! All-Inclusive Kit – A Little Smile were stamped in Versamark ink and heat-set with Clear Embossing Powder.  Each Postage Stamp was then colored with a loose Watercolor Wash exposing the clear stamped image. Technique: Ink pressed into Ink Pad lid and mixed with lots or water using the Large Flat Brush Tip Water Painter.  The Star Fish – Pool Party (a light sea blue), the Sand Dollar – Crumb Cake (beach sand) and the Coral – Coastal Cabana (a slightly darker sea blue).
• Background Panel: (5” x 1¾”) 100 Fluid Watercolor Paper loosely water colored with Crumb Cake in the same manner as the Postage Stamps.
• Just Stamps, Paper and Ink…keeping it simple, the sentiment, LET’s celebrate, from the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set was stamped with Coastal Cabana ink and added to the lower right of a Basic White (Thick) card base (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”).

Let’s celebrate – just because we can and a day at the beach is a great way to have fun!
