Today, I am tackling the Tuesday Morning Sketch (#609) and chose the theme suggested by the As You See It team (#252).
Here is the result:

Stormy weather suggested a monochromatic color scheme.
Steps:
- Focal Image: (2⅜” x 4”) Basic White cardstock. The Rectangle image from the Watercolor Shapes stamp set was stamped with 2nd Generation Smoky Slate ink (stamped off once) creating the stormy looking clouds. The stamp set Sailing Home was used for all of the other stamped images. The Lighthouse was stamped in full strength Smoky Slate ink over top of the rectangle creating a misty foggy look. The Birds were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink to suggest they were closer to the viewer of the scene.
- Sentiment Label: (3¼” x 1¼”) Basic Black cardstock. The sentiment, You Are My True North, was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder. I chose the Black color to ground the images and a larger shape to fit behind the focal image instead of over it.
- Shapes: Basic White cardstock scraps. The Compass and the Rope images were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then Fussy Cut with Paper Snips.
- Background Panel: (4⅛” x 5⅜”) Smoky Slate cardstock was dry-embossed with the Bark 3D Embossing Folder to further suggest stormy skies and choppy water.
All the elements were adhered to a Smoky Slate card base (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) to resemble my interpretation of the sketch with the image set a little to the left instead of centered.
Who do you turn to when things get a bit stormy? I want to take refuge with my father and/or my significant other. They are my safe place. Hope you have such a place.
Thanks for spending some of your time with me today. Cheers, Jolanda!

Your artistry always blows me away! (See what I did there?) I think it was a brilliant choice to use the Bark embossing folder as a background to the lighthouse! I’m going to have to look into getting the watercolour shapes. They look useful! Thanks for applying the “Y” with us at As You See It Challenges!

I agree with Heather in everything she said. It’s good to see the watercolour shapes work much as I’d expected – and are indeed awesome. Grey was a great choice too. Thanks for joining us again at As You See It Challenge.
