Having a play with a number of challenges: Sketch – Try Stampin’ on Tuesday’s (#509), Colors – Color Throw Down (#646), Technique / Tools – The Spot Creative Challenge (#165) and the June Happy Little Stampers Stencil Challenge and Theme – Cardz 4 Guys (#272).

Here is the result:

Who says you have to go to the beach with these colors? Me? I am headed to the Smoky Mountains!
Steps:
Create the Stencil: (5½” x 4¼”) Basic White cardstock. Three Trees were die-cut in to the panel using the tall tree die from the Majestic Mountains Die set to make my own Stencil.

- Background Panel: (5¼” x 4”) Basic White cardstock. With a Sponge Wedge, Misty Moonlight ink was sponged through the Stencil. The Stencil was shifted a little to the right and lowered and the trees were sponged again with Smoky Slate ink. This is a loose interpretation of the three vertical rectangle elements suggested in the Sketch.
- Cross Strip: (5¼” x 1”) Pattern Party Designer Series Paper. The strip was colored with Balmy Blue ink using a Blending Brush.
- Focal Image: (2⅛”) Circle. Basic White cardstock. The Tree image from the retired Snow Front stamp set was stamped with Balmy Blue ink and the sentiment, The Best Thing…, from the All Squared Away stamp set was stamped with Misty Moonlight ink over top. The image was then die-cut using one of the circles from the Layering Circles Die set. I chose to sponge the edge with Smoky Slate ink so that it would stand out from the background.
All the elements were adhered to a Smoky Slate card base (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) to approximate the sketch.
This is a very subtle masculine card appropriate to send a beloved father or any male friend to let them know how special they are to you.
