Rev Up The Fun! – Happy Birthday

For this week’s Case-ing Tuesday Sketch Challenge (#306), I am featuring a favorite retired stamp set.  Every once in a while, you need to take a break from the new and visit with an old friend.

The sketch was ideal for combining a few other challenges together: Stampin’ Up! Only (#276), Seize the Birthday (#215) and the June Stampin’ Up! Color selection.

So this is what I created:

Steps:

• Focal Panel: (3½” x 2½”) Basic White cardstock
• Focal Image: The Vespa image from the retired On The Grow stamp set (my favorite) was stamped in Versamark ink and heat-set with Black Embossing Powder.  The image was then colored with a variety of Stampin’ Blends: Bermuda Bay, Crumb Cake, Smoky Slate, Gray Granite, Flirty Flamingo and Daffodil Delight.
• Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Cross Hatch Black and White pattern from the Pattern Party Designer Series Paper pack.  The colors Sahara Sand, Bermuda Bay and Crumb Cake were added to the Black and White pattern diagonally with a Brayer and smoothed out with a Blending Brush.
• The Sentiment Label: (2¼” x ¾”) Sahara Sand cardstock scrap.  The sentiment, Rev Up The Fun!, from the Rev Up The Fun! stamp set felt so appropriate with the snazzy little Vespa.

All the elements were adhered to a Basic Black card base (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) as per the sketch layout.
