Forever Florals Watercolor – Fragrant Friendship

May 31st…where has the month gone?  I wanted to do a little water-coloring and looked through my stash for an image that would be fun to play with.  I selected a flower from the retired stamp set Forever Florals and chose the sentiment from Grace’s Garden to go with it.

Sketch: CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge (#421), Colors: Stampin’ Up! May Colour Challenge, Technique: Happy Little Stampers June Watercolor Challenge, and since I used retired stamp sets…Retro Rubber Challenge (#159).

Here is the result:

FOREVER FLORALS – GRACE’S GARDEN

Steps:

I stamped the floral image to the left side of a Basic White Panel (3¼” x 4”) with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I water-colored the floral image with Gorgeous Grape and Mint Macaron inks using the fine-tipped Water Painter brush.  When the image was dry, I painted over it with Masking Fluid.  When the Masking Fluid was dry, I added a Mint Macaron ink haze to the center with a Blending Brush.  Crumb Cake ink was blended next and then the panel was finished off with a Highland Heather ink blend.

The Masking Fluid was rubbed off and the sentiment was then stamped in Soft Suede ink to the right of the floral image.

The focal image was then matted with a piece of Soft Suede cardstock (3½” x 4¼”) and mounted on to a Mint Macaron card base (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”).

A simple sketch to highlight a few simple techniques.  The blending of colors compliments the water-colored focal image very nicely.
