Decorative Mandala – On my mind…

This week’s Fab Friday Challenge (#213) is a sketch and I chose the Sunday Stamps Challenge (#257) for the color palette using the new Plenty of Patterns Decorative Masks as a stencil for the Happy Little Stampers Stencil Challenge for May to create this #SimpleStamping card.

And this is the result:

PLENTY OF PATTERMS DECORATIVE MASKS – SIMPLY SUCCULENTS – FABFRI213 – SSC257 – HLS STENCIL MAY – #SIMPLESTAMPING

Steps:

  • Focal Panel: (2¾”) Square.   Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper.  Choosing the Mandala Decorative Mask pattern, I placed it over the water color paper.  The Mandala was colored with the Evening Evergreen, Polished Pink, Calypso Coral, Pale Papaya and Seaside Spray Stampin’ Blends.  There was some color bleeding but I think it adds to the charm of the image.  Once completely colored, the Mandala pattern was traced with a Fine-Tipped Journalizing Pen to frame out the design.
  • After pushing around all of the color combinations for the Background Panel (4¾” x 3½’) and the Card Base (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”), I selected the Polished Pink pattern from the In-Color Designer Series Paper pack for the background and Seaside Spray for the card base.
  • Sentiment Label: (3⅛” x ⅜”).  The sentiment, you’ve been on my mind was stamped in Evening Evergreen ink on to a scrap of Seaside Spray cardstock.

It was fun adding colors to this intricate Mandala pattern.  I like how it turned out.  An easy take on Zen Doodling.

Thanks for spending some of your time with me today.  Cheers,  Jolanda!
