Dragonfly Garden – Birthday Wishes

More deadlines…working with the CAS Colors and Sketches Challenge today (#419) and the Colour INKspiration Challenge (#99).

Such soft pretty colors and a sweet little sketch.

Here is the result.

DRAGONFLY GARDEN – QUITE CURVY – CAS COLOR and SKETCHED #419 – COLOUR INKspiration #99

Steps:

  • I started with a scrap piece of Basic White cardstock and stamped the Leafy Vine image from the Quite Curvy stamp set in Soft Suede ink.  The image was then colored with the Mint Macaron and Just Jade Stampin’ Blends.  When complete the image was die-cut with the coordinating die from the Curvy Dies set.
  • On another scrap of Basic White cardstock, the two Dragonfly images from the Dragonfly Garden stamp set were stamped in Versamark ink and heat-set with Silver Embossing Powder.  The Silver Embossing Powder is stepping in for the Smoky Slate color.  The Dragonflies were colored with the Soft Suede, Mint Macaron and Just Jade Stampin’ Blends.  A little retired Pink Pirouette coloring was added the wings of one Dragonfly.  The Dragonfly Wings were generously (but hard to see) colored with the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush for added sparkle.  Once dry, the Dragonflies were punched out with the coordinating Dragonflies Punch.
  • The background panel (5½” x 3”) Basic White.  The sentiment, Wishing You the Happiest of Birthdays, from the Quite Curvy stamp set was stamped with Just Jade ink.  The panel was then dry-embossed with the retired (but so loved) Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.

All of the elements were then assembled to match the sketch and adhered to a Mint Macaron card base (6” x 7” scored at 3½’)

I love the dancing Dragonflies in the Shimmery green colors. It is as if they are skimming across a pond in the early morning light.

Thanks for choosing to spend some of your time with me.  Cheers,  Jolanda!

  1. This is a great take on the sketch Jolanda! I love the banner of leaves you used as a nod to the horizontal in the sketch and the way you kept your card monochromatic. Thank you for coming to play at CAS Colours and Sketches this week! Vicky x
