Sailing Home – You Make a Difference

For today’s challenges mash up…

Sketch – Paper Craft Crew (#425); Subject – Cardz 4 Guyz (#270) and Color – Paper Players (#540).

Steps:

• For the Guy theme, I chose to work with the Sailing Home stamp set and coordinating Smooth Sailing Dies.  Any color would work for a Monochromatic challenge and I decided to select the Black and Grey with a pop of Red as suggested by the Color Challenge.  The Sketch provided the basic layout for my chosen elements.
• I stamped the Anchor, Lighthouse and Compass with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on to a scrap of Basic White cardstock.  The images were colored with the Light Smoky Slate and Real Red Stampin’ Blends.  Then the Anchor and the Lighthouse were die-cut.  The Compass was punched out with the (1⅜”) Circle Punch and matted with a (1½”) Circle Punch of Basic White cardstock.
• The Basic White background panel (5¼” x 4”) supports the sentiment, You Make a Difference, from the Inspired Thoughts stamp set, another Lighthouse centered for dimension and the Seagulls. All images were stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Once completed, the panel was dry-embossed with the Tasteful Textiles 3D Embossing Folder.
• The Smoky Slate cardstock cross panel (5½” x 1⅛”) is matted with Basic Black cardstock panel (5½” x 1⅜”).  The Smoky Slate panel was also dry-embossed with the Tasteful Textiles 3D Embossing Folder.

I opted for a Smoky Slate card base (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) to keep the Monochromatic theme going.  I colored a bit of White Baker’s Twine with the Dark Real Red Stampin’ Blend to carry the touch of Red to the Anchor.  All of the elements were arranged to suit the Sketch

This would be a perfect card for my Father-in-Law for Father’s Day or any day that we want to let him know we are thinking of him.  Nice sketch, great colors and super guy card!
