This week’s Case-ing Tuesday Sketch Challenge (#303) was combined with the Global Design Project (#291) Theme Challenge and the TGIF Color Challenge (#315).
This is a nice sketch. I love the color combo and creating birthday cards is always fun!
And this is the result:

Steps:
Very popular at the moment is the Alcohol Blending Technique on Vellum. I took a ¼ sheet of Vellum cardstock and added scribbles of Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody and Magenta Madness Stampin’ Blends. I then spritzed the sheet with Isopropyl Alcohol. The colors start to blend and I just let the sheet dry. When dry, I dropped dots and splatters of alcohol on to the sheet to create the rings. The effect is really cool and every time you do this the result will be different.
I wanted to create three Balloons. Balloons are very appropriate as a Birthday theme. I used the retired Balloon Bouquet Punch for the Balloons as opposed to drawing the shape and fussy cutting. I tried to select one Balloon each in the dominate color: Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody and Magenta Madness.
- The focal panel: (3⅛” x 4½”) Basic White. I inked just the Little Girl from the Mother & Daughter stamp from the Beautiful Moments stamp set with the Basic Gray Stampin’ Write Marker and positioned her in the lower left corner. I colored her dress with the Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends and her hair with the Cinnamon Cider Stampin’ Blends. The sentiment, It’s Your Birthday!, from the Oh, Snap stamp set was also inked with the Basic Gray Stampin’ Write marker and placed in the lower right position.
- The Balloons were adhered with a few strategic Mini Glue Dots and the Balloon Strings were hand-drawn with the Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Marker.
- The background panel: (4” x 4½’) Yellow Patterned sheet from the Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper pack has both a bit of Daffodil Delight and Mango Melody tones in it and looked really nice with the Balloons and the Magenta Madness color.
I opted for a Magenta Madness card base (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) to balance the colors in the card design.
What a fun bright birthday card! A little lady across the street has a birthday coming up and I think she will really like this card. I hope you do too!
