Enjoying time in the Studio and working on another round of challenges…Inspiration came from the following:
Sketch – Sketch Saturday (#658); Color – Fab Friday (#212) and Technique – TGIF (#314)
And this is the result:

Steps:
- To create the Ombre effect on my three panel strips (⅝” x 3”), I used a variety of Stampin’ Blends to color a piece of Basic White scrap cardstock. For the Greens, I transitioned from Soft Sea Foam to Old Olive with a bit of retired Wild Wasabi in the middle. For the Orange, I transitioned from Pale Papaya to Flirty Flamingo to a Calypso Coral and Cinnamon Cider mixture to get a Terracotta Tile effect.
- The completed strips reminded me of a Misty Forest and a Lake Sunset. Pushing around a few ideas, I settled on creating a scene with Trees. I selected to die-cut two Basic Black cardstock Trees using the Pine Wood Dies (retired).
- Carrying forward the Tree motif, I opted to use the Evergreen Forest 3D Embossing Folder on a Very Vanilla cardstock background panel (4” x 5¼”).
- For the Very Vanilla cardstock sentiment label (⅜” x 1 ¼”), I stamped the entire sentiment, You make a Difference EVERYDAY, from the Inspired Thoughts stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then closely trimmed it omitting the word EVERYDAY.
I opted for a Soft Succulent card base (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) as this toned in so nicely with my Ombre colored strips.
I really like how this card turned out. It is always interesting to see what can happen when you start coloring a piece of paper…
