The end of the month is upon us. Stampin’ Up! gives us a #SIMPLESTAMPING challenge each month and I have a hard time sticking to just Stamps, Paper and Ink. I so love using embossing folders to add texture and dimension.
I decided to use the colors suggested for April by the SU! Colour Challenge Team.
And this is the result:
I kept the card base plain using Basic White card stock (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”).
I substituted Smoky Slate for Basic Gray. I cut a (2¾”) Square of Smoky Slate card stock and stamped the Birch Background stamp with coordinating Smoky Slate ink, stamped off once.
For my focal image, I stamped the Watering Can and the Cotton Floral Arrangement from the Country Home stamp set on to Basic White cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
With the Fine-Tipped Water Painter, I colored both images. The Watering Can with Pretty Peacock ink and the Floral Arrangement: Leaves – Pretty Peacock ink, Berries and Flower – Real Red ink, Cones – Merry Merlot ink and the Cotton – So Saffron ink under a very light wash of Smoky Slate ink. Both images were Fussy Cut.
The sentiment, Thank You, is from the Boho Indigo stamp set. I liked the straight up, no nonsense font. I stamped the sentiment in Merry Merlot ink of a scrap of Basic White cardstock (2¼” x ½”) and matted it with a scrap of Merry Merlot cardstock (2⅜” x ¾”). The ends of both pieces were snipped to create a flag on the left side.
All that was left to do was put it together. I think the card turned out pretty okay. Don’t you?
So sad to see the Country Home and Boho Indigo stamp sets will retire on May 3rd. If you love these sets, make sure you order them soon.
