Butterfly Bijou – You are Tea-riffic

I entered The Tea Swap over at Joy of Sets and it just so happens that the Just Add Ink Challenge – JAI551 this week is to create something Three-Dimensional.  How fortuitous for me because I get to share this with more people.

And this is the result:

For some time now, I have seen cards that are using a Butterfly and a Slot to create an interesting closure for cards.  I wanted to adapt this idea to a Tea Caddy.  The Butterfly Bijou Designer Series Paper and the coordinating Brilliant Wings Dies were ideally suited to this project.

To create the Basic White card base:  The dimensions are (9¾” x 5¾” scored at 4¼” left side down and 1½” from the bottom up).  The cut-away is the right bottom (1½” x 5½”).  The left side fold up flap (1½” x 4¼”) was tapered on each edge (1½”) to ease closing of the Tea Caddy

One of the patterned sheets of Butterflies lines up perfectly for die-cutting six Butterflies at once.  I selected the pink Butterfly for my closure.

I also chose the patterned sheet of mini-colored floating Butterflies for the background panel (3¾”) Square.  The panel is matted with a Basic Black (4”) Square and adhered to the (4¼”) flap.  The Designer Series Paper was dry-embossed with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder to resemble a table cloth.

For the slotted closure flap, I cut a piece of Basic White cardstock (2”) Square and matted it with a (2¼”) Basic Black cardstock Square.  Pulling out the Word Window Punch, I punched out the slot opening.

The slot flap was adhered to the card and the pink Butterfly was adhered through the slot to the inside of the card/caddy.  When the Butterfly Wings are spread open the card is closed.  When the Butterfly Wings are pinched together, they fit through the slot so the card can be opened.

This Card / Tea Caddy / Gift Card Holder was created for a Tea Swap.  Therefore, I pulled out a few stamp sets that fit the theme.  The Tea Cup is from Tea Together and the sentiment, You are Tea-riffic, is from A Nice Cuppa.  The Tea Cup was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with the Pink Pirouette and Soft Sky Stampin’ Blends.  Two very small Butterflies were fussy cut from a scrap of Designer Series Paper and added to decorate the cup.  The Tea Cup was then fussy cut and popped up with Dimensionals on to the front of the card.  The sentiment was stamped in the lower right corner of the inside of the card, but shows when the card is closed.

When the card is open, you will find the Tea Sachet tucked into the left side created pocket and another Butterfly related sentiment stamped inside.

Such a fun way to make a little gift package.  I sure hope my Tea Swap partner likes what I created.

Thanks for spending some of your time with me today.  Cheers,  Jolanda!
