Chinese New Year – Celebrating Happiness

The Weekend Challenge Theme: Year of the OX – Chinese New Year.  Isn’t the image so rich looking!  I love the color combo of gold, navy and cherry.

In addition to my challenge, I chose the layout from The Global Design Project team – GDP278.

Sketch elements: Stripes, Circle and Banner

PAINTED POPPIES – FOREVER BLOSSOMS – WELL SAID – GDP278 – CHINESE NEW YEAR – CELEBRATE HAPPINESS

STRIPES:  I added 1/8” Tear and Tape Adhesive across a Night of Navy panel.  I then gave this a bath in the Gilded Leafing flakes to create the stripes.  The gilding looks very pretty and shiny on the dark blue.  I added some texture to the panel by dry embossing above and below the gilding with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.

CIRCLE:  I chose to add one of the Gold Hoops and affixed it to the panel.

BANNER:  I selected a scrap of Gold Foil and stamped the sentiment, Celebrating Another Year of Happiness, from the Well Said stamp set with Stazon Black ink.  I felt this sentiment went nicely with a Happy New Year theme without actually saying so.

DECORATION:  I selected the Flowers from the Painted Poppies stamp set and the Leaves from the Forever Blossoms stamp set to embellish the card, the hoop and mimic the theme image.  I fell in love with those beautifully depicted flowers.  The flowers and leaves were stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with Gold Embossing Powder on Cherry Cobbler scraps.

Gung Hoi Fat Choi – Wishing you another year of happiness!
