Very Versailles Butterfly – Thinking of You

Today I created a card for the Spot Creative Challenge – #149. I also chose to include a few other Challenges:

Let’s see what I made:

The Sketch has a back panel, a central shape and a banner that crosses it.

I chose to use a tag and matching envelope for my central shape so I could tie in the Stampin’ Up! Only TAG and the CASology ENVELOPE challenge elements.

I felt that a Vintage Shabby Chic look might suit the tag concept. So that influenced my stamp set and color choices.

TAG:  The Filigree Medallion was stamped in the upper center portion of the tag in 2nd generation Soft Suede (stamped off once).  The Dotted Oval Frame was embossed using the one of the retired Decorative Frames Embossing Folders and lightly sponged in Crumb Cake to highlight the Dots.  The Oval was masked with tissue paper and the Words were stamped in the lower right in Blushing Bride and the Leaves were stamped in the top left in 2nd generation Mossy Meadow.  These images came from the Very Versailles stamp set. The tag was die-cut with the Nature’s Thoughts Dies Frame to pretty up the edges.  Using a Blending Brush, Seaside Spray was added to the tag edges to give the tag a romantic softness.

To make the tag pop, the Butterfly from the Positive Thoughts stamp set was stamped twice in Early Espresso and colored with the Calypso Coral, Bermuda Bay and Mango Melody Stampin’ Blends and then die-cut with the Nature’s Thoughts Dies Butterfly.  Shimmer was added with the Wink of Stella Glitter Brush.

To complete the tag, a slot was punched in the top center with the retired Curvy Corner Trio Punch and a bit of Metallic-Edge Ribbon was colored with the dark Pink Pirouette Stampin’ Blend and tied off with Gold Metallic Trim.

ENVELOPE:  A piece of retired Designer Series Paper in Blushing Bride was cut (3¼” x 5¼”), scored ⅛” on three sides and 4¼” at the top.  The flap of the envelope was created by cutting the top edge with one of the Stitched Shapes Oval Dies.  The three edges were folded under and glued in place to look like a complete envelope.

BANNER:  The sentiment, Always Thinking of You, from the Very Versailles stamp set was stamped in Early Espresso on a scrap of Very Vanilla and trimmed using the Treasured Tags Pick a Banner Punch.  Blushing Bride coloring was added with a Blending Brush.  A little bit of Scalloped Lace Trim was added along the bottom edge to keep with the Shabby Chic esthetic.

BACK PANEL:  Crumb Cake cardstock was dry embossed with the Scripty 3D Embossing Folder.  The script was highlighted with Soft Suede using a Blending Brush.

All the pieces were assembled on to a Crumb Cake card base.

All in all a very pretty card. I like it when I can make several concepts work together. What do you think?

Thanks for spending some of your time with me today. Cheers, Jolanda!
