Dandy Garden Suite

Every week on Tuesdays and Thursdays there is an opportunity to “Stamp Through the Catalog” with like-minded Stampers.  The stamp set(s) are pre-selected and you can play along and create.  I like to participate in this activity and this week, I had the stamp set(s).  Tuesday was Garden Wishes and Thursday was Dragonfly Garden.  Both of these stamp sets are feature items in the Dandy Garden Suite found on pages 24 -27 of the Spring Mini 2021 Catalog.

Here they are…

Garden Wishes:

GARDEN WISHES

Starting with a Very Vanilla panel, I double embossed the background.  First pass with the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder and then again with the Dandelion 3D Embossing Folder.  I was not sure this would work and I was delighted with the result.  The Bricks create a wall and the Dandelions pop out in front of it.

The images of the Dandelion and the Bees were stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on to a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock, colored with So Saffron and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends and die-cut with the Dandy Wishes Dies.  I added Wink of Stella to the Bee’s Wings.

I also stamped a portion of the sentiment on to a scrap of So Saffron cardstock.  To select only a portion of an image or sentiment, you add ink to the desired area with Stampin’ Write Markers, in this case Basic Black, and huff (breathe) over the stamp before applying to your paper.  Texture was added to this label with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.

To complete the card, a So Saffron mat supports the panel and is mounted to an Old Olive card base.

Dragonfly Garden with an assist from Suite Sampler:

DRAGONFLY GARDEN – SUITE SAMPLER

Starting with a Very Vanilla side panel, I stamped the Floral image in Versamark and added Gold Embossing Powder.  I colored the Flowers with the light Flirty Flamingo, So Saffron, Balmy Blue and Pear Pizzazz Stampin’ Blends.

The Very Vanilla panel looked so stark.  I needed to warm it up a bit.  I chose to add Balmy Blue and Pear Pizzazz ink with Blending Brushes.  I liked this much better.

The overall look became very Mint Macaron looking.  As yet, I hadn’t chosen my card base color although I knew it was going to be a Z-Fold card.  That said, I selected Mint Macaron for the inside panel.

To decorate the visible part of the inside panel I thought the Dragonfly image from the coordinating Suite Sampler stamp set would fit really well.  The only problem – the Dragonfly was flying in the wrong direction.

To fix this issue, I relied upon a great technique of Reflection or Reverse Stamping.  To do this, you stamp your image on to an acetate sheet.  I used a cut piece of the Window Sheets.  Once stamped, you flip this over and press it onto your cardstock.  In effect, getting the opposite image.  I made it a little tricky for myself by using Versamark because I wanted to emboss the Dragonfly with Gold Embossing Powder.  With a steady hand this worked out well.

Once the image was embossed, I added color to the Wings with the Flirty Flamingo and Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends and letting the Mint Macaron to shine through.  As with the Bees, I added Wink of Stella to the Dragonfly Wings.

To fill in the lower space, I added texture leaves with the Meadow Moments Embossing Folder.  Added a little more ink blending around the edges and created my sentiment medallion.

I chose the filigree circle label from the Painted Labels Dies.  I had a piece of Seaside Spray cardstock on my work table and it seemed to go really well with all the colored elements.  With that decision made, the Medallion was cut from scrap of Seaside Spray.  Again, Very Vanilla did not seen to look right for the sentiment.  I die-cut another Medallion in Mint Macaron and clipped off the filigree edges and cut it down to fit in the center.  I stamped the sentiment in Versamark and embossed it with Gold.  To finish it off, a little bling was added by placing a few Champagne Rhinestones on to the sentiment label.

Two very different looks.  Garden Wishes is fresh and Dragonfly Garden is dreamy.  Which do you favor?
