Heal Your Heart – So Sorry

Today I created a card for the Thursday Stamping Through the Catalog Challenge – Sale-a-bration stamp set:  Heal Your Heart.

Expressing sympathy is always difficult and having a few of these cards in your stash is always welcome when you have the occasion to need one.  The sentiments in Heal Your Heart say just the right thing.

For today’s inspiration, I used the Sketch layout from the TGIF Challenge – #298 and the colors: Daffodil Delight, Merry Merlot and Calypso Coral from ColourINKspiration Challenge – CI #92.

As the Stamping Through the Catalog stamp set was word based, I selected to use the new background stamp: Wild Roses and combine it with the stamp set: To a Wild Rose.  They go very nicely together.

HEAL YOUR HEART – TO A WILD ROSE – WILD ROSES

Stampin’ Up! has introduced a new product:  Gilded Leafing.  I so wanted to experiment with it and used on this card.

I added the background stamp to a Basic White panel using the Stamparatus using Flirty Flamingo.  I then sponged Daffodil Delight and Merry Merlot inks to fill in some of the flower centers and flower petals.  I cleaned the background stamp and selectively added Versamark to the areas I wished to add the Gilded Leafing.

The gilding process is pretty simple:  Heat and Stick Powder is added over the Versamark and then melted with the Heat Tool.  The Heat and Stick Powder, in effect, becomes a glue.  The Gilded Leafing is very light and airy, so I put some in a larger flat container.  I then put the background panel into the Gilding and let it stick.  Using my finger, I pressed the gilding to the sticky bits.  After that is done, the excess gilding is brushed off.  Looks very pretty.

Following the sketch layout, for the element shape, I Three-Stepped stamped the large rose, from To A Wild Rose in Merry Merlot (Outline), Stamped off Merry Merlot (Shading) and Calypso Coral with Flirty Flamingo to add depth (Flower) and added Daffodil Delight to the center (sponged).  To carry the gold motif forward, I added brush strokes of Delicata Golden Glitz to the petals of the flower.

The sentiment, So Sorry for Your Loss, was stamped in Versamark and Heat Set embossed with Gold Embossing Powder on a Merry Merlot banner.

Putting it all together, I chose to mat the background panel in Daffodil Delight on a Merry Merlot card base.

This card turned out nicely.  Changing the sentiment, you would have a lovely card suitable for any occasion.

In fact, I have entered this card in the Watercooler Wednesday – All Occasion Challenge #304.
