Blossoms in Bloom – Happy Birthday

Today I created a card for the Global Design Challenge – GDP272.  Case the Designer: Kerstin Kreis.

My take away from Kerstin’s card is the use of subtle colors, blending, a side die-cut border and a circular element.

I chose to use the Ornate Borders Dies for the side die-cut and Blushing Bride and Soft Seafoam for the subtle colors.  Using the new Blending Brushes, I added alternating bands of color to the background matching the open florals to the pink and the green to the leaves and stems.

BLOSSOMS IN BLOOM – HAPPY BIRTHDAY

I did a little paper piecing and inlaid the Soft Seafoam leaves and stems into the open die-cut border.  I think this finishes the border of very nicely.  For the circular element, I chose to use the Poppy Moments Dies and die-cut the larger floral image.  I grounded the flower with a bit of Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon so that the flower was not just floating in mid-air.

Keeping everything soft, the Happy Birthday sentiment from Blossoms in Bloom was heat set with White Embossing Powder onto a Soft Seafoam Stitched Rectangle Die label

A very soft and delicate card. Do you like it?

Cheers, Jolanda
