Art Gallery Floral – Colour Inkspiration Challenge #90

November 25, 2020

I have been invited to be a guest designer for the Colour Inkspiration #90 Challenge.

Art Gallery Floral is what I designed for the colour collection of Daffodil Delight, Petal Pink, Pool Party, Coastal Cabana and Pretty Peacock. Art Gallery and the Floral Gallery Dies will be available in January 2021. It is fun to play with new products.

Texture and dimension. I started by stamping my florals on to Whisper White card stock. The Art Gallery stamp set is a Two-Step set. The main image of the flowers and leaves were stamped off to give a light color and the secondary stamp was added in full strength to add depth.

I wanted to create a canvas like image, so the floral image was embossed twice with the Subtle 3D embossing folder to create lines both horizontal and vertical.

As I played around with the layout, I picked Pool Party for the card base and Pretty Peacock for the mat. I wanted to add a layer of some sort in Petal Pink. After several back and forth ideas, an Oval frame felt like the right choice and I chose to emboss it with the Dainty Diamonds 3D embossing folder. I stamped the Best Wishes sentiment from Queen Anne’s Lace in Pretty Peacock on Coastal Cabana and echoed the oval shape.

And there all the pieces sat. Should everything line up square or not? I couldn’t make up my mind. Something was telling me that it needed something more…bling…ribbon…

I decided to create an additional stem and used the matching Floral Gallery Dies to cut it out to see how it looked as it “grew” out of the oval frame. I liked that element and created additional flowers which were also die-cut and then fussy cut for a closer crop and popped up to also extend out of the frame. I felt this made the flowers come “alive”.

Putting it all together, I embossed the Pretty Peacock mat with the Tasteful Textiles 3D embossing folder, The oval frame is raised by using the Foam Adhesive Strips, as was the sentiment label.

A soft pretty floral card, suitable for sweet birthday celebration.

Looking forward to seeing what everyone else will be making with this set of colours…

Cheers, Jolanda
