PINING FOR PLAID – Paper Pumpkin Mash Up

November 26, 2020

The OCTOBER 2017 – PINING FOR PLAID kit had enough supplies to make ten great shaker cards.  Needless, to say I did not create all ten and still have some supplies remaining.   The coordinating colors were Pool Party, Old Olive and Basic Black with hints of gold.

Today, I created a mash up by incorporating elements from the NOVEMBER 2017 – BACK IN PLAID kit and the NOVEMBER 2016 – WONDERFUL WINTERLAND kit.

LET IT SNOW

LET IT SNOW – PINING FOR PLAID – PAPER PUMPKIN – OCTOBER 2017

I wanted to keep the card bold and decided to use the plaid upfront and center.  I chose to keep the circle element from the original kit samples and die-cut the opening with the Stitched Shapes 2⅜” circle die.

I backed the opening with one of the Snowflake Squares.  Before adhering the square, I stamped the Let It Snow sentiment from the companion kit: Back in Plaid (Nov 2017) and grabbed a die-cut of the Trees from the prior year kit: Wonderful Winterland (Nov 2016).  I colored the trees and added highlights to the snow using the Old Olive, Shaded Spruce and Pool Party Stampin’ Blends.

The plaid card front was trimmed to 3½” x 5” and a strip of Pool Party, ½” x 3¾”, embossed using the Wrapped in Texture embossing folder was added to the edge.  All mounted on a Basic Black card base.

Inside the card and not shown is a Pool Party panel that is stamped with the Snowflakes in Pool Party and the sentiment Season’s Greetings in Memento Tuxedo Black from the kit’s original stamp set.

To finish off the card, I added Pool Party die-cut Snowflakes with sparkly Rhinestones to add bling.  The snowflakes come from the Trio of Tags Dies.

My layout/sketch was influenced by the Global Design Project GDP268 Challenge: Case the Designer and fits with the Watercooler Wednesday Challenge WWC299 – All Occasions.

I am a winner! Thank you for selecting this card.

Original Kit:

If you still have this kit around, I hope I gave you a little inspiration.

I really like how this card turned out.  As we watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, it was raining and I thought it would have been more festive if it had snowed just a little bit.  Did you watch the parade?  Do you agree?  Let me know what you thought.  Post a comment.  I would love to hear from you!

Cheers, Jolanda
