Sunday Sketch – SS024

Christmas Cheer

Looking at today’s sketch, I was drawn to create a Holiday card.

Stampin’ Up! currently has much of it’s Designer Series Paper on sale (15% Off) and the three panels were perfect to show off patterned paper(s).  I picked Heartwarming Hugs.

The principle colors in my selected patterns include: Real Red, Pear Pizzazz, Mossy Meadow and Whisper White.  I chose Mossy Meadow and Whisper White for the accent colors.

The little tree image is from Perfectly PlaidTwo-step stamping.  The tree outline is stamped with Mossy Meadow and the inset leaves are stamped with second generation Pear Pizzazz.  This means that I stamped it once on scrap paper before stamping it on my project to get a lighter shade of color.

The image is punched out with the 2” Circle Punch and the edges are lightly sponged with Real Red using a Sponge Dauber.  A very useful tool in any craft box. I added a red Wonderful Gem to the top of the tree.

The bottom banner was dry embossed with the Dainty Diamonds 3D embossing folder.  I enhanced the pattern by lightly tapping some Versamark ink onto the raised pattern and heat setting with White embossing powder.  I like how this looks.

For the upper ribbon element, I created a running sentiment with Christmas Cheer from Itty Bitty Christmas.  A simple sentiment to let the focal image of the tree be the star of the show!

Cheers!
