Saturday Keep Stamping – Two Cut / Three Card Pattern

 October 3rd, 2020

This week my challenge is to use a layout from Just Add Ink that I originally found on Pinterest.  I nicknamed it the Two Cut/Three Card Pattern.

Essentially, you choose three pieces of paper.  All cardstock, all patterned paper or a combination of both.  All three pieces are cut to the same size: the standard top layer on most cards is 4” x 5 ¼”.  The key is to choose papers in the colors and patterns that coordinate with your “theme”.

Stack all three together and make a katy-wompas diagonal cut and then a second diagonal cut to have three interesting cut shapes.  In effect, you will have nine pieces.

On each card of your three card bases, rearrange and fit the pieces back together like a puzzle using one each of the color/pattern to make three similar but different cards.

Complete your cards with stamped images and embellishments as desired.

Here are mine…

Continuing with my personal theme of Fall Florals, I chose to use the Flowers for Every Season Designer Series Paper.  I picked the Sunflower pattern and matched it to the Cinnamon Cider and Just Jade coordinating patterns.  For my card bases, I chose So Saffron.  This is a great complimentary color to the more intense Bumble Bee color.

From the Make Beautiful Things Brochure, I picked the coordinating stamp set Four Season Floral.  I like the daisy image and stamped it in Cinnamon Cider and water colored the petals with Bumble Bee and the leaves and stem with Just Jade.  To dress up this simple image, I punched it out with a Circle punch and matted it with a Just Jade 2” Circle and matted again with the So Saffron open swirl die-cut from the Painted Labels Dies.

These cards needed a smaller, simple sentiment that would let the patterned papers be the star.  The three sentiments from Queen Anne’s Lace fit perfectly in the second smallest Stitched Nested Die.

Two cuts and there you have your three cards!

Cheers,  Jolanda
