Your Most Un-Used Color(s)

 Keep Stamping – August 29th, 2020

This week my challenge is to use a color or two that you don’t use very often.  There are no unfavorite colors in Stampin’ Up!’s collection.  I love them all!  However, if we admit it or not, there is always one or two colors that you rarely grab to use in your card making.  Which are yours?

For me…it is Pumpkin Pie (Orange) and Gorgeous Grape (Purple).  I tend to use both of these colors seasonally and more as an accent color than as a full-on main event STAR of the show!

Let me show you what I came up with…

As you can see, the colors still ended up being used as an accent. I think this is because these two colors are so saturated and intense.

LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL (Thinking of You // Hello)

The tree image from “Life is Beautiful” was stamped four times on to the various colors.  Using the Layering Circle Dies, three different sizes were cut and then added to the tree branches.  This technique is called Spotlighting.  Essentially spotlighting one or more areas of the original stamped image.  The sentiment was stamped and then cut out with the Layering Oval Dies.  Keeping the design clean, the ovals were sponged in a coordinating color.

A LITTLE LACE & DAISY LANE (Wishing You the Best // Thanks)

Stamping the lacey floral image from “A Little Lace” with Versmark ink and then heat embossing White on White creates such a nice effect when colored with a sponge.  I mixed the lighter color with some Glycerin so that I got a smoother finish and then added highlights of the darker color. Texture was created by using a variety of Embossing Folders, Dainty Diamonds and Subtle 3D.  Dimension was created by stamping, embossing and coloring three medium daisies from “Daisy Lane” and punching them out with the coordinating punch and then stacking them over the floral daisy image.

I was pleased with the end results of these two different designs. If I had to choose, I would probably lean a little more to the orange toned cards. How about you? Do you have a favorite? Let me know and tell me why?

Cheers!

Need a card? Ask me and I can create one for you.

Want the supplies to create your own, let me know and I can help you with that too!
