This week the theme for Simple Stamping is Summer Remembered. It’s the last true weekend of the summer. September begins next week! How did you spend your summer or summers’ past?
This has been a summer season like no other. If you were like me and didn’t really get to go anywhere special…where do you wish you were able to go? I chose the Beach!
These cards represent a series of SUN-BLEACHED DAYS @ THE BEACH. The operative word being bleach. The stamp sets used were: Beautiful Moments, A Good Man and Waterfront.

It is a truly fun experiment to take a little thimbleful of bleach, a paint brush and a scrap square of each of Stampin’ Up!’s colored cardstock to see what color remains post the bleach application. One of my favorites is Crumb Cake. The bleached color is pretty much So Saffron.

Easy – Friends
Who doesn’t remember playing in the sand with friends and buckets? Did you build sandcastles?
A quick and simple card. The Crumb Cake panel with the little girls is stamped in Early Espresso. I then lightly attached it to the larger Crumb Cake panel. I cut a little mask for the girls and then stamped the dune line across both pieces. Prior to matting on the So Saffron panel, I lightly painted bleach over the dresses. Some of the detail dress lines faded in the bleach, so I touched them up with the Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker. Keeping this card truly simple, no other embellishments or tools were used.

Step Up – Relax
Just chillin’ in the chair with a red beach towel. That’s how Dad likes to spend his time at the beach!
To step up this card, I decided to clear color emboss the image in Early Espresso. This makes it much easier to use the bleach. The bleach stays inside the area painted and does not fade the original ink color used.
I chose a Gate Fold for this card, scoring @ 2 1/8” on both sides and folding in. Dad is takin’ it easy in the chair and sitting upon a bright red beach towel or two. The Real Red panels are embossed with one of the new Wrapped in Texture embossing folders. Rectangle cuts were enhanced using the Stitched Rectangle Dies.

Stepped Up – Moments
Strollin’ down the beach with Mom, carrying a red beach towel.
Everything is the same as the previous card, except I changed the layout and the embossing folder to the other Wrapped in Texture folder. I liked the clean lines of this card and could not determine what else to add. After all, we are at the beach….
Do you have a favorite? Let me know and tell me why. Cheers!
