I created a couple of alternatives with this month’s Paper Pumpkin kit: WORLD’S GREATEST.
A timely kit perfect for celebrating those who are great or have done great things for us.
The designs suggested included Blue Ribbons, Trophies and Medals. I chose not to use these elements in the cards I created today. I will leave that for another time…
From the kit, I took the Mint Macaron and Pacific Point plaid card fronts and die cut circle and triangle shapes. All other materials, card stock, stamp sets and embellishment items were found in the Studio.
You’re the Best
The current additional stamp sets used were: “Swirly Frames” and “High Tide”. I did pull out an older Paper Pumpkin stamp, “In the Bag” from February 2014 for the Mint Macaron dotted circle. The different circle sizes were cut using the Layering Circle dies and the Stitched Shapes dies with the exception of the smallest circle which I punched out with my ¾” circle punch. Overall a clean and simple card that would be suitable for a guy.
Celebration
The Stitched Triangle cut flags are strung together with a little bit of White Baker’s Twine. Using Watercolor Paper, I chose to do a Watercolor Wash with Bumble Bee Ink. To enhance the natural rag of the Watercolor Paper, I ran the panel through the Emboss and Cut machine with the Tasteful Textile 3D embossing folder. The Bumble Bee coloring sets off the blue and mint flags very nicely. A little masculine bling is added by coloring a few enamel dots in matching Stampin’ Blends. Night of Navy subs for Pacific Point. The sentiment is stamped on a double flagged banner and the edges sponged in Mint Macaron.
The Mint Macaron card base felt a little ‘Plain Jane’ against the brighter textured Bumble Bee panel. To compensate, I added another matching texturized embossed panel that I inked with Pacific Point. I think this gives the card a better balance.
