Summer Yellow – Birthday Birds

Welcome back!  The month is disappearing quickly.  I have a sweet birthday card for you today for a number of challenges…

Starting with Four Seasons (#2607) choosing the color Yellow; Triple B (#2607) Birds; Critter Crazy (#112) Any Creature; and Moving Along With The Times (#191) choosing a Coloring Medium – Stampin’ Blends Markers.

Sharing with We Love Stamping (#2607) Summer Birds and Simply Clean & Simple (#2607) for a CAS styled Birthday themed card picking yellow as my base color instead of white.

Choosing the Stampin’ Up! Only (#406) Sketch and playing along with Tic Tac Toe (#297) now that I am back from vacation for a Yellow, Bird and Birthday.

Here is the result:

BIRD’S EYE VIEW – SIMPLY SAID

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Daffodil Delight cardstock.
    • The sentiment, Happy Birthday, from the retired Simply Said stamp set was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  However, I had a smudge, so I stamped it again onto a scrap of Lemon Lolly cardstock to cover up the error.
  • Accent Circle: (4½” x 3½”) Lost Lagoon cardstock die-cut with the (4¼”) Circle die from the retired Deckled Circles Dies set.
  • Circle: (4¼” x 3¼”) Lemon Lolly cardstock die-cut with the coordinating (3⅞”) Circle die.
  • Shapes – Birds: Basic White cardstock scraps.
    • The three Bird images from the retired Bird’s Eye View stamp set were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers.  Colors chosen: Light and Dark Lemon Lolly and Light and Dark Daffodil Delight along with Light Golden Glow for the Beaks.
    • The Birds were then fussy-cut with Detail Scissors.
  • Banners: Lost Lagoon and Basic White cardstock scraps.
    • The Tree Branch image, also from the Bird’s Eye View stamp set, was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and fussy-cut.
    • The sentiment, Let’s Celebrate, also from the Simply Said stamp set was stamped with the black ink and trimmed to (4” x ⅝”) and hand-flagged with the Detail Scissors.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  The Birds were popped up with Dimensionals.

A pair of Yellow Finches visited our garden yesterday…and that was the inspiration for this card.

Thanks for spending some of your time with me today.  Cheers,  Jolanda!
