In The Meadow – Special Day

Design Team Time for Facebook’s Case-ing Tuesday (#568), where we select cards from the Catalogs and remake them as we are inspired.  Today’s inspiration can be found on page 46 of the May – Aug 2026 Catalog and the colors suggested by Hand Stamped Sentiments (#490).

My design choices were influenced by Paper Players (#789) with a Masculine theme and the Retro Rubber (#273) Tic Tac Toe Board Line: Embossing, Embellishments and my Choice (Masculine) featuring well-loved retired stamp sets.

Here is the result:

IN THE MEADOW – INSPIRED THOUGHTS – IRRESISTIBLE BLOOMS – CT568 – HSSCC490 – PP789 – RRCB273

Steps:

  • Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Coastal Cabana cardstock.
  • Background Panel: (3½” x 5⅛”) Basic Beige cardstock.
    • The Splatter image from the retired Irresistible Blooms stamp set (circa 2023) was stamped randomly with both Coastal Cabana and Old Olive inks.
  • Accent Rectangles: (1⅝” x 3½”) Old Olive cardstock dry-embossed with the Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder (left) and the Stone & Vine 3D Embossing Folder (right), both On-Line Exclusive products.
  • Shapes – Trees: (1¾” x 3½”) Basic Beige cardstock.
    • The Tree image from the retired In The Meadow stamp set (circa 2016) was selectively colored.  Old Olive ink was applied directly to the Tree Canopy area with the ink pad and Pecan Pie ink was added to the Trunk area with the retired Stampin’ Write Marker as was Mossy Meadow to the Grass area.
    • Additionally, a second inking / stamping of the Canopy was added with Old Olive ink.
    • I used a small Stipple Brush and a bit of water with Granny Apple Green ink picked up off of a Block to add some depth within the Branches. Note: The Stipple Brush still had a little Golden Glow Shimmer ink on it from a previous project, and it transferred to the Branches.  May be hard to see in the photo but looks nice.
    • The Trees were then hand-torn.
  • Decoration – Deer: (2½” x 2¼”) Basic Beige cardstock.
    • The Deer image, also from the In the Meadow stamp set was stamped with Pecan Pie ink and then colored over with Pecan Pie ink added with a Blending Brush.
    • Using the Black Journaling Pen and the Light Pecan Pie Stampin’ Blends Marker, details were added to the Deer, and the Grass was colored with the Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Write Marker.
    • The Deer was then fussy-cut with Detail Scissors.
  • Sentiment Label: Coastal Cabana cardstock scrap.
    • The sentiment, Thinking of You on your Special Day, from the retired Inspired Thoughts stamp set (circa 2021) was stamped with Versamark ink and heat-set with White Embossing Powder.  Trimmed Size: (2¼” x ⅝”) cut on the diagonal.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the sketch.  The Deer and the Sentiment were popped up with Dimensionals and a few retired Adhesive-Backed Cork Rounds were added to complete the card.

I like the earthy forest scene for a guy card that works well for either Father’s Day or Birthday.

I’m looking forward to seeing what you create based on the sketch and how you choose to use the colors.

Thanks for spending some of your time with me today.  Cheers,  Jolanda!
