Friends Are Like Seashells – Birthday Card

Design Team Time for the Atlantic Hearts (#682) Sketch and I chose to flip the layout.

My design was influenced by As You Can See It (#372) with a Beachcombing theme.

Here is the result:

Steps:

• Card Base: (8½” x 5½” scored at 4¼”) Basic Beige cardstock. 
• Background Panel: (4” x 5¼”) Basic Beige cardstock dry-embossed with the Cross Hatch pattern retired Basics 3D Embossing Folder.
• Under Panel: (4” x 4”) Very Vanilla cardstock.
  • The sentiment, Happy birthday to my beautiful friend, from the retired Friends Are Like Seashells stamp set, was stamped with Pecan Pie ink.
• Semi-Circle Panel: (4” x 2”) Azure Afternoon Splatter patterned piece of paper from the 2025/2026 Brights Collection Designer Series Paper pack, still available but now on the Last Chance List, was die-cut with the (4”) Circle die from the retired Framelits Circle Collection Dies set.  The straight edge was hand torn to expose the white core.
  • The sentiment, I’m so happy I found you, from the same stamp set, was stamped shadow style with Secret Sea ink.
• Block Panel: (4” x 3”) Crumb Cake Splatter patterned piece of paper from the 2025/2026 Neutrals Collection Designer Series Paper pack, also still available.  The bottom edge was also hand torn.
• Decoration – Seashells: Very Vanilla cardstock scrap.
  • The various Seashells from the same stamp set were stamped with different colored inks and additional color was added using Blending Brushes.  The Shells were fussy-cut with Paper Snips.
  • Color Combinations: Small and Large Clamshells – Golden Glow with Barely Blush; Sand Dollar – Golden Glow with Barely Blush; Conch – Crumb Cake with Petal Pink; and Starfish – Pecan Pie with Crumb Cake.

All elements were adhered to the card base to resemble the flipped sketch.  The center Shells were popped up Dimensionals and several Antique Pearls were added for a bit of bling.
